Important Updates

ETS Offices Closed July 4
ETS offices will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Please use our website to find up-to-date information on registration, scoring, test preparation and other topics.

ETS Computer-Administered Testing (CAT) System Maintenance
System maintenance is being performed on the ETS Computer-Administered Testing (CAT) System from approximately 6:00 a.m. (Central time) on Friday, July 18, 2008, until approximately 11:59 p.m. (Central time) on Thursday, July 31, 2008. CAT exams (including MTT) will not be delivered during this time.

2008-09 Annual Updates and Paper-Based Test Registration Opening
Following are the dates for the 2008-09 annual updates and the opening of paper-based test registration for the 2008-09 testing year.
-- Monday, August 4 through Sunday, August 10: Online registration system annual update period. Candidates will not be able to access the online registration system during this time.
-- Monday, August 11: Full access to the online registration system will be available. Paper-based test registration opens for the 2008-09 testing year.

Administration Windows for the Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Test
The MTT test is offered at specially equipped computer-administered test (CAT) centers during two-week administration windows at various times throughout the year. To secure registrations for their preferred test dates and test centers, candidates wishing to take the MTT test are encouraged to register well in advance. The next MTT administration window is:

Monday, August 18 through Saturday, August 30

Dates for the upcoming administration window in early to mid November will be announced at a later time.

International Surcharge
Beginning April 25, 2008, examinees testing at international CAT test centers will be charged
an additional international test center fee of $50. This fee will help cover the additional costs associated with testing students outside the United States.

2008-09 Testing Schedule
The testing schedule for 2008-09 administrations has been finalized. As a result of an initiative to increase computer-administered testing, the number of paper-based TExES/ExCET test administrations will be reduced to five in the 2008-09 testing year. By September 2008, ETS is contracted to deliver seven additional CAT tests, thus resulting in less demand for paper-based test administrations. The number of TExMaT administrations will be reduced to three per testing year.

Attention All Candidates Taking TExES CAT Tests - On-Site Scoring for CAT Administrations to End
Candidate confusion about the CAT end-of-test score report issued at the test centers has led the TEA to decide to eliminate this score report. The last CAT administration where the end-of-test score report will be available is April 8, 2008.

The end-of-test score report indicated the number of questions answered correctly and served as proof that an examinee had taken a TExES computer-administered test. It did not indicate the examinee's scaled score or passing status and was not intended to be an official report of final scores.

Final scores for CAT testing are mailed and posted on this website within seven days of the test date.

Testing ID Requirements Updated
The ID requirements for taking Texas Educator Certification Program tests have been updated to include guidelines for testing within or outside your country of citizenship. See Identification (ID) Requirements in any of the testing program sections (e.g., TExES/ExCET) of this website for the most up-to-date list of requirements.

ETS Computer-Administered Testing (CAT) System Maintenance
System maintenance is performed on the ETS Computer-Administered Testing (CAT) System each Sunday from approximately 10:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. (Central time). During this time, you will NOT be able to register, reschedule or cancel any CAT exams. If you encounter any problems, please try again later.

Repeat Testing Registration
If you do not obtain a passing score, you may wish to retake the test. See the Registration Bulletin for specifics regarding the test retake policy. If the score reporting date for the test you previously took is on or after the regular registration deadline for the next test date, you can register to retake the test during the late registration period without paying the late fee. If you register online, the late fee will automatically be refunded. If you register by phone (1-800-205-2626), tell the Customer Service Representative that you are calling to retake a test on which you did not obtain a passing score and need to have the late registration fee waived.

SBEC/TEA Online Maintenance
System maintenance is performed on the SBEC/TEA online system each Sunday from 8:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. central time. The SBEC/TEA system may be temporarily unavailable during this time. This may affect your ability to register for a test and/or view your profile. If you encounter any problems, please try again later.

Important Message About Creating Your Profile
The information you provide when creating your profile on this site MUST match the information provided by your educator preparation program (EPP) for the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) database. Your TEA ID number (or Testing ID number), first name, last name, date of birth, and route to testing code must match the SBEC database. If it does not, you will receive an error message. If you receive an error message when you create your profile, please recheck your entries or contact your EPP to confirm your information.

Test Center Info

Important Test Center Reporting Time Policy Reminder
It is each test taker's responsibility to allow plenty of time to arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes prior to the start time, regardless of whether there is traffic congestion, road construction, bad weather, car accidents, poor directions, or any other incident that might delay arrival. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
