Alternative Testing Arrangements

Monday Testing

Monday paper-based (PBT) testing will be arranged only if

  • you have religious convictions that prevent you from testing on Saturday; or
  • you are a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and have duties that prevent you from testing on Saturday.

Monday PBT test administrations are held on the Monday following the regular PBT administration. To register, you must submit the following by mail:

  • a completed Monday Testing registration form (PDF)
  • correct fees
  • a letter signed by your cleric on letterhead stationery confirming your affiliation with a recognized religious body whose convictions prevent you from testing on Saturday
  • a copy of your military duties

Online and phone registration are not available for Monday testing. When completing your registration form, leave the test center code number and test center name blank. Fill in the city and state where you wish to test. You will be assigned to the closest available test center. Registration forms must be received by the late registration deadline.

If you are registered for Monday testing, you cannot reschedule online; you may only reschedule using the Change Request form. A Change Request form is available in the download library for each program. These requests must be received by the late registration deadline.

NOTE: You cannot test on a Saturday and then take the same test on the following Monday.

Nonstandard Testing Accommodations for Test Takers
with Disabilities or Health-Related Needs

ETS is committed to serving test takers with disabilities or health-related needs by providing services, test preparation materials and reasonable accommodations that are appropriate given the purpose of the test. If you have a have health-related need that requires you to bring equipment, beverages or snacks into the testing room; take extra or extended breaks; or test in a separate room, you need to request accommodations.

The 2011-12 Bulletin Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities or Health-Related Needs (PDF) contains policies, contact information, registration procedures and forms. The Supplement should be used in conjunction with the information in the associated Registration Bulletin. The Supplement and the Registration Bulletins are available below in a screen reader version.

All requests for testing accommodations must be reviewed and approved before a test can be scheduled. The following must be included in your request:

1. A completed Applicant's Request for Nonstandard Testing Accommodations form. This form and instructions for completing the form are in the Supplement (PDF).

AND

2. Paper-Based (PBT) Testing: The Paper-Based (PBT) Testing Nonstandard Testing Accommodations Registration Form found in the back of the Supplement (PDF) and the proper fee for the test you are taking. Fees and payment policies are on the form.

OR

3. Computer-Administered (CAT) Testing: The Computer-Administered (CAT) Testing Nonstandard Testing Accommodations Registration Form found in the back of the Supplement (PDF). You will schedule your test and provide payment after you receive your authorization letter.

All materials must be submitted together or your registration will be returned to you unprocessed, which may cause your test to be delayed. For PBT testing, you must submit your request for accommodations to ETS by the late registration deadline listed in the appropriate program Registration Bulletin. For CAT testing, your request for accommodations should be submitted as early as possible. All test takers requesting any accommodations must register by mail through ETS Disability Services. Online and telephone registration are not available if you are requesting accommodations. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests received with appropriate documentation.

ETS is committed to producing alterate test formats (e.g., braille, recorded audio, reader's script or large print) as quickly as possible. Production times may vary. We urge you to send in your request for testing accommodations well in advance of your planned test date.

If you are registered for nonstandard testing accommodations, you cannot make changes to your test, test center, test date or test session online; you may only reschedule using the Change Request form. A Change Request form is available in the Download Library for each program. Mail the Change Request form to the Disability Services address on the form. For PBT testing, change requests must be received by the late registration deadline. For CAT tests offered on a continuous basis, change requests must be received at least two days prior to the administration date. Changes for the BTLPT Spanish and LOTE EC-12 tests can be made up to the end of the registration period. Changes for limited-administration tests can be be made up to two days before the start of the testing window.

Defense Activity for Non-Traditional
Education Support (DANTES)

DANTES testing will be arranged for military personnel who are stationed outside the state of Texas and wish to take the TExES PBT tests. If you meet this qualification, contact Texas Troops to Teachers at 1-800-810-5484 to coordinate testing at DANTES sites out of state.

Phone and online registration is not available for DANTES testing. A representative from ETS will work directly with you regarding the registration and testing process once approval from the Texas DANTES coordinator is received. You will need to submit a DANTES registration form (PDF).

Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MY CAA)
Program (TExES and TASC/TASC-ASL only)

The Texas Educator Certification Program is an approved vendor for the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (My CAA) program. If you meet the My CAA requirements, you must request financial assistance through My CAA for the test(s) you wish to take. The financial assistance must be requested under the Program Provider Texas Educator Certification Program (ETS). After you receive approval, contact Customer Service at 1-800-205-2626. A representative from ETS will work directly with you regarding the registration and testing process. Phone and online registration are not available for My CAA testing.
